Devils Tower, WY to Cody, WY

Thur. June 3, 2010 – Day 4
Total Mileage Today: 315
Total Trip Mileage: 1,638

We woke up really early this day. Because we are still on Texas time in our heads and on our wrists, and due to the fact that we fall asleep really early, we have been waking up at like 5 am. I like to make coffee in the morning, and the only problem with that is that my stove that I use to heat the water sounds quite similar to standing on shores at Cape Canaveral during a shuttle launch. Out of decency for anyone who may be camping within a ¼ mile of us, we wait until 6am to fire up the rockets. This is the brew station:

Headed out from Devils Tower, where we had camped the previous night, with a destination of Cody, WY. It is a relatively short, but extremely scenic day for us.
Wyoming has red roads:

US 14:

Still snow at about 7,000-8,000ft elevations.

How hot is it this week in Texas?

A waterfall:

While gearing up to leave the waterfall viewing area, we met a guy named John from Edmond, Oklahoma. He is recently retired and has spent the last several summers touring around the US on his motorcycle. This guy will probably rack up about 30,000 miles this summer touring. That is almost triple what we are planning to travel on our trip. So we are not the only crazy (or sane) folks out there.

Out of the canyon and into Cody:

Rodeo:

Accommodations for the evening:
