Cody, WY to Great Falls, MT

Fri. June 4, 2010 – Day 5
Total Mileage Today: 372
Total Trip Mileage: 2,325

Got a late start out of Cody, WY. Headed up to Montana via Yellowstone National Park and the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. The day started out well enough.

But soon there were some not so happy looking clouds coming in off the mountains.

A bit later it started to rain, and it rained most of the day. At first it was a high altitude cold rain through Yellowstone.

Rush hour in Yellowstone:

…and into Montana!

The poor weather continued. Once in the plains, the sky began to look eerily familiar to those storms we get in Texas that spin up those things that are always pickin’ on trailer parks.

The weather finally started to clear as we made our way into the Lewis & Clark National Forest.

A construction detour took us through an old town called Belt, Mt where we came upon this:

Luxurious camping on this night, the Rolse Royse of campgrounds, a KOA.

It is about twice the price of a regular campground, but they throw in all the screaming kids you can handle for free! But seriously, it was a pretty nice place with good wifi, showers, covered storage, and a kitchen sink. Oh yeah, they had a mini water-park too. Yep, I swear it.

** having some wifi issues. will get some more posted once it's fixed.
